I invite you on a journey. It is a journey inward toward compassion, connection, and change. Come and sit awhile. Share your story. Your life is meant to be lived, shared, and observed with compassion, but often, the self is observed from a place of fear and judgment.
The world often gives the message that judgment will help you see how you measure up, but judgment ultimately fails us because it sees everything through eyes of rejection and fear.
Abuse, failure, loss and pain leave the impression that you are not good enough. Inevitably, judgment increases and disconnection from ourselves continues. Changing this vicious cycle can seem like an exercise in futility. You may often try to be someone or something you are not in order to be good enough. Richard Rohr puts it this way,
"Life is not a matter of creating a special name for ourselves, but of uncovering the name we have always had."
Insight in therapy can lead to action and change. Growth comes as you accept your true self while embracing your strength, beauty, flaws, and the pain of your story. Love can be received in the deep places of your inner experience. Perhaps you have felt the darkness of fear and judgment, pain, and loss closing in on you. It's time to share your story and let the light of truth and love lead you home.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of counseling experience in various therapeutic settings. My therapeutic approach promotes an environment of compassion that over time may become the internalized experience of the client. I am energized by depth work that leads to sustained behavior change.
Conscious awareness brings light to our inner world and illumination for the next step. As Carl Jung once said, "Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." Looking into your heart takes courage. It helps to have someone to observe, reflect, and support you toward greater self-awareness. Compassion helps us all face our fear and gives courage to embrace whatever we might find in the light of insight.
The counseling process initiates conscious awareness for the purpose of awakening. Once awareness takes hold, freedom is given. As you awaken to what lies before you and what is within you, there is freedom to choose what to accept, what to surrender, what to embrace, and what to change. With awareness comes a brilliant opportunity for choice. Your life experience has already awakened a longing. There is now an opportunity to embrace who you are and who you are becoming in the light.
Change comes in the presence of compassion and acceptance. Vulnerable honesty is welcomed by love. In the face of love, we see the good and the bad, yet we are without fear. Perfect love leaves no room for fear. Just as light leaves no room for darkness, love reveals who you are and what you need, to become who you are intended to be. You move toward love like a plant toward light, manifesting small changes that bring growth. Let love and compassion be your guide. Grow toward the light.
An epiphany is described as a sudden intuitive perception into essential meaning, initiated by a common occurrence. You may have had recent experiences prompting you to search for meaning. Some seek answers outside themselves. Therapy is a way to look inward, where you may find your own epiphany.
"Life is not a matter of creating a special name for ourselves, but of uncovering the name we have always had."
